Dee Collins Interview

Hey Dee, massive congratulations on going pro for The National Skateboard Co! We are all so hyped on the news, how are you feeling?
Ahhhh cheers lads I appreciate all you boys at HR! I’m not sure how I’m feeling to be honest obviously so thankful for Rye & Tom for giving me the opportunity and I couldn’t be happier with the board graphics! Blinky & Rob absolutely smashed it there!

How did you first get on TNSC?
I was getting DGK boards from the states in 2019, then covid happened and the shipping and everything was fucked for a bit. So I was talking to DLynn around the same time about getting on TNSC and from what I can remember it all happened pretty naturally.

You’re one of very few Irish skaters to ever turn pro and we are really excited to see someone shining some light on Ireland as maybe skater here have been a bit overlooked in the past. Who are some of your favourite Irish skaters past or present?
Well the people from Ireland who had the most influence on me when I was growing up skating was Dee Diamondz and Joe Hill from Derry & Cian Eades from Limerick! Some of my favourites nowadays are Shane San, Ross Doyle and Cillian Fitzpatrick.

Good heads in there for sure. Used to love to see the Derry crew skating at Rosys and in the Better Late Than Never video. Is Dee Diamondz still skating?
Dee is still about aye and still killing it! It’s so sick having Joes park and still have sessions like the Rosy days!

We notice your music taste is pretty diverse, what have you been listening to lately
I’ve been listening to a lot of Ataraxie lately they’re really sick! A band called Embryectomy and PeelingFlesh are on repeat quite a bit too!

Brutal! Maybe we’ll see some street bangers from you to some Death Metal in the future, that would be dope!
Hahaha I think there has to be a song out there that could fit a skate part! I’d love it but we’ll have to wait and see!

Thanks so much for taking the time to speak to us, and congratulations again Dee, can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
No worries at all lad! Grateful for all the support from everyone at HR always! Sláinte mo chara
